Dashboard Overview

Learn what the Home dashboard is showing you and when to use it for balances, category checks, and recent activity review.

The Home dashboard is your quick check-in screen. It is where you look when you want to confirm that the month still makes sense before you dive into Accounts, Transactions, or the full Budget view.

It is designed to answer a simple question fast: “Does my current picture still look right?”

In this section #

What you will usually see on Home #

  • summary cards for Net Worth, Month Inflow, Month Outflow, and Net Flow
  • an account overview grouped by account type
  • category balances for the viewed month
  • a labels block when Labels is enabled
  • a recent activity list showing the newest transactions

What the dashboard is best at #

  • getting a fast read on where the month stands
  • spotting balances or categories that need a closer look
  • checking whether recent edits landed the way you expected
  • deciding which deeper screen you need next

The dashboard follows the viewed month #

Most of the dashboard is tied to the month you are currently viewing in the header.

That means the summary cards, account totals, category balances, and label balances can change when you move to a different month. If something looks different than you expected, check the month picker before assuming the data is wrong.

When to leave Home #

Use the dashboard to notice issues, not to do every piece of detailed work.

  • Go to Accounts when you need to inspect or manage a specific account.
  • Go to Transactions when you need search, filters, exports, or more than a quick recent list.
  • Go to Budgeting when you need to assign money, plan money, or work category-by-category.

If something looks wrong here, the next step is usually Accounts, Transactions, or Budget.
