General Settings

Review the everyday settings that shape how Common Cents behaves during normal use.

General settings are the daily-behavior settings. They cover app information, core input behavior, and current-file status.

Use this page when #

You want to change a default behavior, improve day-to-day comfort, or understand more about the file is currently loaded.

Application #

The Application section is informational rather than configurable.

  • App Version shows the version of Common Cents that is currently running.
  • View release notes opens the release notes so you can check what changed in newer or recent builds.

General Functionality #

This is where the everyday input toggles live.

Auto Decimal Amount Entry #

When Auto Decimal Amount Entry is on, typing 1234 in an amount field enters 12.34.

Use this if you prefer fast keypad-style amount entry. Turn it off if you want to type the decimal point yourself every time.

Show calculator button on amount fields #

When Show calculator button on amount fields is on, amount and currency inputs show a calculator launcher beside the field.

That gives you a direct way to open the Combo Palette calculator from places where you are already entering money.

Turn it off if you prefer cleaner amount fields and do not want the extra button visible.

Current File #

The Current File section is also informational. It helps you confirm what file you are working in and roughly how large or busy it is.

Loaded File #

Loaded File shows the current file name, or tells you when no file is loaded.

File Size #

File Size shows the size of the currently loaded database file.

Database item counts #

The stats cards show the current counts for:

  • Accounts
  • Transactions
  • Categories
  • Details
  • Assignments
  • Targets
  • Labels

These are not switches or settings. They are there to help you understand the current file at a glance.
