Combo Palette Overview

Learn how the Combo Palette helps you run actions, search, calculate, and open Help without bouncing through the interface.

The Combo Palette is the fastest way to move around Common Cents once you know roughly what you want.

You can open it with the keyboard shortcut Cmd+K on macOS.

You can also drag it around the screen when you need to keep part of the app visible underneath.

It has four modes, and each one has its own trigger symbol:

  • Commands with !
  • Transaction Search with $
  • Help with ?
  • Calculator with %

You can switch modes by typing the symbol when the input is empty, or by using the palette mode buttons.

Why it matters #

The palette turns Common Cents into a more command-driven app. That saves time once your workflow stops being brand new.

It also lets you set a default opening mode in Settings > Appearance. If one mode is clearly your main workflow, that setting saves an extra step every time you open the palette.
